Airbrush Tattoos — Aftercare
Quick Facts
- Dries in about 30 seconds. Larger designs may take a little longer but no more than 1 minute.
- Waterproof once dry.
- Smudge behavior:
- If it gets wet + rubbed at the same time → it can smudge.
- If it’s wet but not rubbed → it won’t smudge.
- If it’s dry and rubbed (no water) → it won’t smudge.
- Typical wear: ~2 to 5 days, depending on your skin, placement, and aftercare.
Right After You Get It
- Give it the full dry time: hold still for 30 seconds (up to 1 minute for larger designs).
- Avoid touching, stretching, or putting tight clothing over the design while it finishes setting.
Keep It Looking Fresh
- When bathing or swimming, try to pat dry instead of rubbing the design.
- Minimize friction from tight waistbands, cuffs, straps, or straps that sit directly on the tattoo.
- If water splashes on it, no worries—just don’t rub while wet.
If You Want It to Last Longer
- Choose lower-friction spots (upper arm, outer forearm, shoulder) when possible.
- Be gentle when drying after showers; pat, don’t rub.
When You’re Ready to Remove It
- Use rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad to dissolve the design, then rinse.
- Or use gentle soap + warm water and a soft cloth, then rinse and pat dry.
Airbrush Tattoo FAQ
How long will mine last?
Most designs wear for 2–5 days. High-friction areas may fade faster.
Is it safe to swim?
Yes, after it’s fully dry. Try not to rub the design while it’s wet; pat dry afterward.
What makes it smudge?
The combo of being wet + rubbed can smudge it. If only wet (no rubbing), you’re good. If only rubbed while dry, you’re also good.
Can I sleep on it?
Sure. If possible, avoid tight or abrasive contact right on the design the first night.

Both are me! Minneapolis Mehndi & Henna is the dream I started in 2016- Small Batch Body Art is what I grew into as I started learning more fun skills! “Body art” is more board than henna and lets people know there’s more I can offer for their event. Thanks for stopping by!
